about

Until the mid 1950's the Osprey was extinct in Britain. The magnificent fish hawk, the Osprey returned to Loch Garten in the Scottish Highlands and signaled a turn in public opinion towards conservation. Sadly this did not deter egg thieves, nevertheless the Ospreys have continued to nest and thrive. The tune is a bagpipe hornpipe by William MacDonald inspired by watching the Ospreys flying and hunting over Loch Garten. The Osprey is an Amber List species because of its low breeding numbers.
