The Cuckoo and Fly Like a Bird

from Birds by Gordon Mooney and Barbara Mooney

/

about

Two Northern hornpipes or clog dance tunes. The first tune is played by bassoon in imitation of the cuckoo's habit of moving around and calling 'cuckoo'. In Scotland the bird is called The Gowk and to hunt the gowk is to do something foolish. Flee like a bird is a chirpy ,airy tune played by flute. The Cuckoo is a Red List species
